My wife's 'stan' account is posting wild things about a celebrity and I think she's going too far.
By @remyok2 · Relationships
She runs a fan account for a pop star. I thought it was a harmless hobby, but her posts are getting really intense and personal, and now she's getting into actual fights in the comments with other fans.
The full story
Okay so when my wife first told me she was making a 'stan' account for this big pop star, I thought it was funny. A little weird, maybe, for a 34-year-old, but harmless. She'd make edits, post about tour dates, the usual stuff. But over the last few months, it's become her entire personality. It started escalating when the celebrity got a new boyfriend. My wife's account went into overdrive. She posts these long, analytical threads 'proving' the relationship is fake and that the celebrity is secretly sending her fans messages through her outfits. I'm not kidding. She spends hours a day 'defending' this person from online criticism, which basically means she's just arguing with teenagers in comment sections. And then last night, it got really weird. She found the celebrity's new boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's social media and started posting about her, calling her 'messy' and 'clout-chasing' for... I don't know, existing? It felt like she crossed a line from being a fan to being a creepy online harasser. I told her she needs to dial it back, that these are real people, and she told me I 'just don't get it' and that she's 'building a community.' She's alienating our actual friends because this is all she talks about. I'm worried about her and honestly, a little embarrassed.

@gabeforsure — Time to make a stan account for the ex-girlfriend. Fight fire with fire.
@violetagain — Is she okay financially? Spending hours a day on this sounds like it could be impacting her job.
@hankwelp — This is my sister with her k-pop phase. She almost missed a flight once because she was editing a "fancam" on her phone.
@owenliterally — What part of this are you leaving out? Feels like this isn't just about a fan account.
@kim — LMAO
