My non-sports boyfriend has officially become a bigger psycho than me during the Olympics.

By @judekay · Relationships

I'm a die-hard fan of literally every league. He usually just nods along. But he's found Olympic race walking and now our apartment is a stats-and-commentary zone 24/7.

The full story

Okay so I'm the sports person in our relationship. NFL, NBA, MLB, Premier League, you name it, I'm watching it. My boyfriend is sweet, he'll sit with me but he's usually just scrolling on his phone. He knows the big players just from hearing me scream at the TV, but that's it. So the Olympics roll around and I'm in heaven. Wall-to-wall competition. For the first few days, it was the usual. He'd ask 'who are we rooting for in this?' and I'd give him the rundown. Then one afternoon, race walking was on. I was basically just using it as background noise while I worked. I don't know what happened. Something in his brain just... snapped. He started asking questions. 'Wait, so they can't run? Their foot has to be on the ground?' And then he was hooked. He's downloaded apps to track the qualifiers. He's learned the names of the top 5 race walkers from Spain. He talks about 'loss of contact' and 'bent knee' violations like he's a certified judge. Last night he literally shushed me during a 20km final. I've created a monster. It's the most attractive and terrifying thing I've ever seen. I think I'm building a dynasty here.
