My girlfriend thinks I should pay for her takeout order when I'm already cooking for myself.
By @danikay · Relationships
When it's my night to handle my own dinner, she'll often decide she wants takeout instead. they says since I'm not cooking for her, the least I could do is cover her a rideshare Eats.
The full story
We split groceries and generally alternate cooking, but about twice a week we just do our own thing for dinner. I'll make something simple for myself, and she uses that as a chance to order from a restaurant she likes. The issue is she expects me to pay for it. Her logic is that if I were cooking for both of us, I'd be paying for those ingredients anyway. I think if she wants special restaurant food while I'm eating leftovers, she should pay for it herself. It's usually only $25-30, but it's the principle.

What people are saying
@violetee — I feel like there's a piece of this we're not hearing, her logic just doesn't make any sense at all.
@ellieish — Oh honey no. If you're not cooking for her, that's her cue to either make something herself or treat herself. It's not a free pass to your wallet.
@colekinda — Cooked.
@ivyish — That's not logic, that's financial manipulation and it needs to stop now.
@ididntmeanthat — order yourself something even more expensive next time its your turn
