My girlfriend and I are in a silent war over my walk-up song.

We had a running joke where we'd play a "walk-up song" when the other person got home from work, like in baseball. Her pick for me has zero energy, and when I told her it has "0-2 count, swinging at a slider in the dirt" vibes, she took it super personally.

The full story

It started as a fun, goofy thing. I'd come through the door and she'd have 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC blasting. Total closer energy, striding to the mound in the 9th. I loved it. My pick for her was always something upbeat too. But last week, she switched my song to some super slow, sad indie folk song. I listened for a second and was like, "What is this? This is what they play for the other team's highlight reel of errors." I told her I need something that says "undefeated season," not "rebuilding year." I suggested about 10 alternatives with killer opening riffs. She got quiet and said I was insulting her taste and being an "alpha-male cliché." I was just trying to have fun with it, the way we always did. I tried to explain it in sports terms: you don't send a guy out to 'Hallelujah' to get a game-winning hit. It's just bad strategy. That made it worse. Now for three days, it's just silence when I walk in. they says I turned a "cute, romantic thing" into another competition. I think she's being way too sensitive. It's a walk-up song, it's supposed to get you hyped! Now the vibes in the apartment are like a team that just got swept in the first round. I feel like I'm crazy here.
