My gf's family wants me to pay them back for my 'free vacation'.

My girlfriend's family took us on their family vacation, which was generous. Now that we're back, her dad sent me a spreadsheet with my 'share' of the costs, saying I should have known it wasn't a gift.

so my gf (21f) and i (22m) have been dating for a little over a year. her family is really well off, like multiple vacations a year kinda rich, and i'm... not. i'm a full time student working part time to pay rent. this summer they were going on their annual trip to a resort in mexico for a week and my gf asked if i wanted to come. i said i'd love to but there was no way i could afford it. she talked to her parents and they invited me to come along, saying they had plenty of space and it was no big deal. i was kinda hesitant but my gf insisted it was fine, and her parents seemed super chill about it. i even asked my gf a couple times 'are you SURE your parents are okay with this and i don't need to pay for anything?' and she was like 'yes, of course, they want you here!' the trip was amazing, i got along with her whole family, it was a great time. i thought it really solidified my relationship with them. well we got back about a week ago and this morning i get an email from her dad. it's a spreadsheet. an itemized spreadsheet of the vacation costs, with a column highlighted for 'my share'. it's over $1500. it includes a portion of the flights, the villa, food, even the airport transfers. i immediately called my gf freaking out and she was super embarrassed. she confronted her parents and her dad told her that i'm an adult and i should have known a trip like that isn't free. he said he was 'testing my character' and that a 'man of good character' would have offered to pay his way from the start. now my gf is fighting with her parents, her dad is demanding the money, and i'm looking at a bill that is literally more than i have in my bank account. i feel so humiliated and tricked. like was this some kind of sick test i was supposed to fail?
