My boyfriend says if he barely uses something, he shouldn't have to chip in for it.
By @violettbh · Relationships
We live together, and I'm the one who buys all the household stuff like toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap. He's claiming he 'hardly uses any' so it's not a shared expense. Am I crazy?
The full story
This is a new one. We've lived together a year. I do the shopping for the apartment. I buy the toilet paper, the soap, cleaning supplies, all of it. I asked him for half the money for this month's stock-up, and he hits me with this. they says since he's at work all day, he barely uses any toilet paper at home, so that should be on me. Same for the hand soap in the bathroom. they said he 'just uses dish soap' to wash his hands in the kitchen. What? You don't just get to opt-out of basic household supplies. It's the cost of having a house. It's not a buffet where you only pay for what you put on your plate. He thinks he's being logical. I think he's being a cheapskate. I told him that's not how it works but he's digging his heels in. This is dumb.

What people are saying
@movingon — A man who doesn't want to pay for toilet paper for his own home is not a man you can build a life with.
@remysorta — Oh sweetie, no. You are not the crazy one here. That is absolutely not how living with a partner works.
@milosorta — Disagree. He’s being logical, you only pay for what you use, that's just basic fairness.
@gusliterally — tell him to bring his own single roll of toilet paper everywhere he goes then
@wesyk — bruh
