My boyfriend says finishing my leftovers doesn't count as 'stealing'.

By @nicoish · Relationships

He argues that since we live together and share expenses, food in the fridge is 'community property'. I argue that my name on the takeout box is a legally binding contract.

The full story

this is so dumb but i'm genuinely mad. i had half of an amazing pad thai in the fridge from last night and was looking forward to it all day. i get home and the container is in the trash. empty. i ask my bf and he's like 'oh yeah i was hungry so i finished it, hope that's cool.' it was not cool. he thinks because we live together, whatever is in the fridge is fair game. his logic is 'what's mine is yours'. my logic is if i bought it specifically for myself, and especially if it's got my initial on the lid, it has entered a sacred pact between me and my future appetite. he thinks i'm being dramatic but i feel like this is a fundamental difference in how we see the world. am i crazy?
