My boyfriend's new 'culinary' hobby is just making adult Lunchables.

He's suddenly decided he's a charcuterie expert after seeing a million TikToks. Now every time we have people over, instead of an actual dinner, he just arranges some sad-looking salami and cheese on a board and calls it a night.

The full story

I need to know if I'm being a hater. A few weeks ago my boyfriend (29) went down a TikTok rabbit hole of people making those elaborate, beautiful charcuterie boards. You know the ones, with the salami roses and the honeycombs and seventeen types of artisanal cheese. It was cute for a minute. Then he declared it his new passion. Now, instead of making or ordering actual food when we host, he just presents... a board. The first time, it was for a football game with our friends. Okay, fine, snacks work for that. But last weekend, my parents came over for what I had explicitly called a "dinner visit." They showed up expecting a meal. He unveiled a wooden plank with some rolled-up prosciutto, a few cubes of cheddar, some Triscuits, and a handful of grapes. My dad just stared at it and asked where the main course was. It was so awkward. I tried to talk to him about it, gently suggesting that maybe a meat and cheese board is an appetizer, not a three-course meal. He got all defensive and said I was stifling his creativity and that this is "how people entertain now." He's already planning to do another one for a friend's birthday next week. I feel like I'm going crazy. Am I supposed to pretend that a glorified snack platter is a replacement for actual cooking? It's not even that good; it's literally just stuff from the deli aisle arranged with the enthusiasm of a kid who was forced to clean his room.
