My attempt to have a romantic movie moment with my girlfriend went horribly wrong.

I tried to do the boombox scene from 'Say Anything' for our anniversary. It ended with me getting soaked by a sprinkler, yelled at by a neighbor, and the expensive speaker short-circuiting.

The full story

Okay so, for our two-year anniversary I had this grand plan. My girlfriend loves old 80s rom-coms, and her favorite is 'Say Anything.' I decided I would greet her when she got home from work by standing outside her apartment window and blasting 'our song' from a big bluetooth speaker I borrowed. I got into position, hiding in the bushes like a certified weirdo. Of course, the moment I saw her car pull in, the bluetooth decided to unpair from my phone. I started panicking, frantically jabbing at my screen. I finally got it to connect, but I guess in my haste I'd maxed out the volume. The first note of the song didn't just play, it exploded. It was so loud the entire courtyard probably heard it. In my shock, I stumbled backward and tripped directly over a sprinkler head. And THEN the sprinkler turned on. So now I'm getting absolutely drenched, the song is blaring, and the speaker is making horrible gargling noises before finally dying with a sad little fizzle. I looked up and my girlfriend was just standing by her car, hand over her mouth. Then a window slid open above me and some guy screamed 'ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!' I just knelt there, defeated, soaking wet and covered in grass. My girlfriend eventually came over, but only after she stopped laughing, which took about five full minutes. they says it was the sweetest, funniest thing I've ever done. I am still processing the humiliation. Should I be happy she loved it or just embarrassed forever?
