I think I accidentally created a long-running fake feud with my boyfriend.
By @zaneyy · Relationships
He has this habit of 'stealing' one specific snack every time he comes over to my dorm. For months, I've been pretending to be furious about it, but tbh at this point I think I'm in too deep.
The full story
so when my boyfriend and i first started dating, i was super into these like, specific fancy sour candies. they're kinda expensive for a college student budget, but i'd get a bag as a little treat for myself to get through exam week. the first time he stayed over, he ate the whole bag. i was genuinely a little annoyed, and i complained about it dramatically. he laughed, and i thought that was the end of it. but then it became a Thing. the next time he came over, he made a big show of looking for them. so i started hiding them. and that's where it got out of hand. it became a game. i would find the most insane hiding spots–inside a textbook, in the pocket of a winter coat in the back of my closet, inside one of my boots. and he would always find them. it was like having a snack-sniffing dog for a boyfriend. he'd leave a little note like 'got 'em' or something equally dumb. for a while i was still kinda annoyed, but then a few weeks ago i was having a horrible day, just stressed and overwhelmed. he came over and i completely forgot about the candy game. later that night, after he left, i found the bag of candy on my pillow with a note that said 'you seemed like you needed these more than me today.' and ngl, i almost cried. i realized he wasn't just being an annoying boyfriend, it was his weird, dumb way of having an inside joke and paying attention. so now i buy the candy specifically for him to find, but i have to maintain the illusion that i'm still mad about it. he can never know. it's our thing.

@niakindof — so the foundation of a healthy relationship is lies about candy. noted.
@tateforsure — His love language is acts of service, even if the service is stealing your snacks.
@maekay — My gf and I have this exact same dynamic but with charging cables. I'm pretty sure we have like 12 of them now.
