I ate my girlfriend's leftover pad thai and now she's given me the silent treatment for two full days.

She had one of those fancy takeout containers from a place we both love and I honestly thought she was done with it. Now it's become this huge thing where she says I don't respect her 'personal property' and I'm treating our fridge like my own personal buffet.
The full story
Okay, so this sounds dumb, I know. My girlfriend (27F) and I (29M) have been living together for about a year. We have a pretty good system, we split groceries, we mostly cook our own meals during the week because our schedules are different, but we share staples. On Saturday, she went out for lunch with her friends to this Thai place she's obsessed with. She came back with a half-eaten container of pad thai with shrimp. It's the good stuff, not the cheap version. She put it in the fridge and that was that. Fast forward to yesterday, Sunday night. I was watching the end of a baseball game and got hungry. I wasn't 'starving' enough to make a full meal, but I wanted something more than chips. I looked in the fridge. I saw the pad thai. In my head, I did the mental calculation: it's been there for over 24 hours, it's half-eaten, people forget about leftovers all the time. I figured it was fair game. So, I heated it up and ate it. It was delicious. I rinsed the container and put it in the recycling. Didn't think twice about it. And then... the reckoning. This morning, Monday, she goes to get ready for work and opens the fridge, probably to pack her lunch. I hear this dramatic sigh from the kitchen. I walk in and she just looks at me and says, "Where's my pad thai?" My defense was, I thought she was done with it! I said it was sitting there for a while and I figured it was up for grabs. She completely lost it. Not yelling, but that quiet, furious tone. they said she was "looking forward to that all morning" and that it was her specific meal, not community property. they said the fact I didn't even bother to shoot her a text to ask proves I'm inconsiderate. Now she's barely speaking to me. She's texting in one-word answers and being performatively sad about her 'stolen' lunch. Am I insane, or is she turning a simple misunderstanding into a federal crime?
