I ate my boyfriend's leftovers because he told me to 'get over it' when my team lost.

My boyfriend (a huge sports fan) has this running thing where he teases me whenever my favorite team loses. This time, I'd had enough and ate the takeout he was saving.

The full story

My boyfriend (32M) and I (29F) are both huge sports fans, but we root for rival teams. We have a standing rule in our house: no cheap shots for at least 24 hours after a tough loss. It’s mostly for him, because I get genuinely sad and he gets... smug. It’s a good system when he actually follows it. Yesterday my team lost a heartbreaker in the final seconds. I was gutted. I came home from watching the game at a bar, and all I wanted to do was just be miserable in peace. I walked in the door and he was sitting on the couch with this big grin on his face. Before I could even take my shoes off, he goes, 'Tough one, huh? Looks like your guys choked. You should probably just get over it.' I was so annoyed. Not just because he broke the rule, but the 'get over it' felt extra dismissive. I didn't say anything, I just went to the kitchen to get some water. And there on the counter was the container from his favorite Thai place—the leftovers he was hyping up all day for his lunch tomorrow. The 'special' that's only available on weekends. In that moment, I decided that if he wanted me to 'get over it,' then he could 'get over' not having his precious Panang curry. I took the container out of the fridge, sat down, and ate every last bite of it. It was delicious. He found out this morning when he went to pack his lunch for work and he is absolutely furious. He's saying I took it way too far, that it was a 'disproportionate response' to some light trash talk and that I'm being childish. I think he got what he deserved for being a sore winner and breaking our own house rules. It wasn’t about the food, it was about the principle.
