I accidentally found out my boyfriend has a 'backup' engagement ring.
By @umakay · Relationships
He proposed to me last year and I said yes, but apparently he bought a second, much cheaper ring in case I said no and he had to propose to his ex.
The full story
i am still processing this. i was looking for a document in our home office and i found a receipt from a different jeweler dated a week before he proposed to me. it was for a ring. not THE ring i'm wearing now, but a different one. i spiraled and went digging and found the other ring box hidden in his old college stuff. when i confronted him he admitted he was so scared i'd say no that he bought a cheaper 'plan b' ring so he could immediately go propose to his ex-girlfriend (who he was still talking to i guess???) so he wouldn't be alone. i feel like i'm going to be physically ill. this is not normal behavior.

What people are saying
@piahm — So he was still in contact with his ex right up until the moment he proposed to you?
@noelyy — The fact that he had a fully planned out 'backup proposal' is a massive red flag.
@notyourtherapist — Oh sweetie, my heart just breaks for you. You deserve so much better than being someone's plan A.
@finn — A man's gotta have a plan A and a plan B, that's just being prepared.
@benkk — nahhh
