Eating someone's special leftovers is a relationship-ending offense.

My boyfriend ate the spicy basil beef from my favorite Thai place that I was looking forward to all day. He's saying I'm being dramatic, but I'm legitimately questioning our entire future.

The full story

Okay, let's establish some ground rules for civilization. There is a sacred social contract when it comes to leftovers. You don't just eat them. Especially not when they are *marked* by the pure joy and anticipation of the person who bought them. Yesterday, I got takeout from this one Thai place I love—the one that’s a 30-minute drive away. I got my favorite spicy basil beef. I ate half, and I was so excited to have the other half for lunch today. I literally told him "I can't wait to eat this tomorrow." I get home from work, I'm dreaming about it, I open the fridge and the container is gone. GONE. I ask my bf (28) if he's seen it. He just casually says, "Oh yeah, I ate that for lunch. I was hungry." No remorse. No understanding of the crime he just committed. He just thought he could help himself to my pre-planned, pre-cherished meal. they said he "forgot" I was saving it. How do you forget that? We had a whole conversation about it! He thinks I'm being insane for being this mad. He offered to buy me more, but that's not the point! It's not about the money or even the food itself at this point. It’s about the absolute lack of consideration. That was *my* little piece of happiness I was looking forward to. It's a blatant disregard for my stated future joy. I feel like this is a massive red flag. If he can't respect the sanctity of leftovers, what’s next? Is this just what my life is going to be? A series of small-to-medium disappointments orchestrated by someone who just doesn't think? He's lucky I'm just giving him the silent treatment and not pressing charges for grand theft deliciousness.
