A silly argument over a song lyric has now caused a domestic cold war in my apartment.

By @kara · Relationships

My boyfriend was 100% convinced the lyric in Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer' is 'hold me closer, Tony Danza.' I laughed, proved him wrong with a quick a place nearby search, and he has been acting weird ever since.

The full story

I feel like I'm losing my mind. We were in the car Friday, the song came on, and I was just happily singing along. And then I hear him, clear as day, belting out 'HOLD ME CLOSER TONY DANZAAAAA.' I started laughing because I thought he was joking. He was not. He was dead serious, and got really defensive when I corrected him. He was like 'no, it's about Tony Danza, everyone knows this.' So I did what any sane person would do, I pulled up the lyrics on my phone and showed him. Case closed, right? Wrong. So, so wrong. The man looks at the screen, looks at me, and just goes completely silent. We get home and he's being all quiet and pouty. I finally ask him what's wrong and he says he 'doesn't like my energy' and that I was being 'smug' about it. It's now been three days, and he has doubled down. He's claiming it's a 'Mandela Effect' thing and he has vivid memories of his dad's vinyl album having 'Tony Danza' in the liner notes. He's saying the internet is wrong and I'm a 'sheep' for believing it. He's genuinely mad, and I am genuinely baffled that this is happening. This is so dumb, I know it's dumb, but the tension is real.
