A harmless horror movie marathon bet with my boyfriend has turned into a week of public humiliation.

I lost a bet, and now my punishment is to narrate my own life out loud like a cheesy sitcom character for a full week. He thinks it's hilarious, but it's starting to cause real problems at my job.

The full story

My boyfriend (32) and I (29) are pretty competitive. He loves cheesy jump-scare horror movies, and I think they're dumb. So we made a bet: we'd watch his five stupidest horror movies back-to-back, and the first person to look away or scream loses. I was so confident. I lost. The stakes were that the loser had to adopt the winner's most hated media trope for a week. My most hated trope is when sitcom characters narrate their thoughts out loud to the audience. You know, the whole 'Well, this is a pickle!' thing. So that's my life now. For the first day, it was kinda funny. Saying stuff like 'Looks like I'm heading to the kitchen for a glass of water!' and having him respond with 'The suspense is killing me!' was stupid but we were just at home. The problem is, I'm a plumber. This isn't a work-from-home desk job. I'm in people's houses, I'm at construction sites. Yesterday, I was fixing a garbage disposal at a client's house and I was struggling to get a rusted part loose. Without thinking, I just go, 'Boy, this rusty bolt sure is putting up a fight! Hope I brought the right wrench for the job!' The homeowner just stared at me. I tried to just smile and keep working. Then at the supply house, the guy at the counter asked me how my day was going and I said 'Just another day saving the city from leaky faucets!' He just nodded slowly and handed me my invoice. My boyfriend thinks I'm exaggerating how bad it is. He even downloaded a soundboard app for me with a laugh track and 'awww' sounds, and he keeps texting me to 'make sure you're using it!' I told him I'm not doing it at work anymore, that it's unprofessional and embarrassing. they says a bet is a bet and that I'm being a sore loser. I've got four more days of this. Am I being a baby or is he taking this way too far?
