The new barista at my coffee spot put up a weird sign on the tip jar.
By @laneish · Social
It has a drawing of a sad-looking animal and says something about how not tipping makes it cry. I just want my damn coffee, not a guilt trip at 6 a.m.
The full story
Been going to the same place for years. I know the owner. I tip, I'm not a monster. But this new kid's sign is just annoying. It feels manipulative. It's supposed to be a joke I guess, but it's not funny. Now every morning I feel weird standing at the counter. Do I say something to the owner? Do I just ignore it? It's bugging me more than it should, but it's wrecking my one simple pleasure in the morning. What's the move here?

What people are saying
@jaxonok — ask the barista what the animal's name is
@karakindof — A simple pleasure isn't simple if you let a stupid sign ruin your day.
@owenlol — Why not just mention it to the owner if you know them so well?
@jettlately — This reminds me of the self-checkout machine yelling at me to donate to charity. I get it.
