The most elaborate prank I've ever seen just happened in my fantasy football league.

The guy who came in last place last season had his punishment delivered today. The commish hired an actor to serve him fake legal papers for 'defamation of fandom' in the middle of his family BBQ.

so our fantasy football league is a bunch of dudes i know from college and it's gotten progressively more unhinged over the years. the punishments started simple like 'loser has to chug a gross smoothie' and now it's basically a year-long psychological operation against whoever comes in last. this year's loser had it coming, he's been talking trash nonstop. but i think the commissioner might have finally taken it to a place we can't come back from. the punishment was that the loser had to 'publicly face legal consequences for his terrible team management'. we all thought that meant he'd have to stand on a street corner with a sign or something. nope. the commissioner, who is a genuinely insane person, hired a professional actor. this actor dressed up as a process server, found the loser's address, and showed up during a family barbecue he was hosting yesterday. like, his parents and aunts and uncles were there. the actor served him a fake, extremely detailed legal summons. it was a multi-page document accusing him of 'defamation of fandom,' 'gross negligence in roster management,' and 'intentional infliction of emotional distress' on the rest of the league. it had fake case numbers and looked super real. my buddy's mom almost had a heart attack. he was completely humiliated, turned beet-red, started apologizing to his dad. it took him a full ten minutes of stammering before the actor finally broke character and told him the whole league was in on it. we were all getting updates in the group chat and dying laughing. but now that the dust has settled... it feels kinda weird. like, was it hilarious? yes. but hiring a professional to embarrass someone in front of their entire family feels... like a line was crossed maybe? half the league thinks it's the funniest thing ever, the other half is starting to wonder if we're the baddies.
