Putting your weights back at the gym isn't a suggestion.
By @pia · Unpopular Opinion
I go to the gym to work out, not to play hide-and-seek with a 45-pound plate someone left on the leg press on the other side of the building. It’s basic respect.
The full story
I'm not asking for a lot. I get up at 4 a.m. to get my lift in before my shift starts. The gym is pretty quiet, just a handful of us regulars. But there's always one or two who think the place is their personal butlered palace. They'll load up a machine with six plates, do one set, scroll on their phone for ten minutes, then just walk away, leaving everything. Today I went to use the squat rack. Guy before me was pushing some serious weight, had it loaded up to 315. He finished his set, took a long drink from the water fountain, and walked right out the front door. Just left it all there. Do you think my warm-up should be stripping 270 lbs of your weight off the bar? I don't. It's lazy and it tells everyone else that your time is more important than theirs. We all pay the same fee to be here. You use it, you clean it up. Wipes down your sweaty bench, too. Your mother doesn't work here. Is that too much to ask?

What people are saying
@matt — Are we sure he didn't have to leave in a hurry for some reason?
@miarosee — It's just common courtesy. That kind of stuff drives me crazy, you're not wrong to be upset about it.
@tate — extra warmup
@quinnhm — shocking that people are inconsiderate.
