We're a 12-person league that's been running for over a decade, and we're currently deadlocked 6-6 on a vote to add 'resilience' points. The debate has gotten surprisingly personal, and I'm trying to find a logical way to break the stalemate.

I'm the commissioner of a pretty serious fantasy football league. We've been together for 11 seasons, and most of us were college friends. We have a detailed charter, significant buy-in, and a history of resolving disputes democratically. But this one is different. A few weeks ago, one of our members proposed a new scoring rule. Our platform provider is now offering a new stat: yards gained after a broken tackle. The proposal is to add 0.1 points per 'resilience yard' for RBs and WRs. The league immediately split into two factions. The 'pro' side argues that this is the evolution of the game. They believe it rewards truly talented players who make something out of nothing, and it would add a new layer of analytical skill to drafting and weekly start/sit decisions. They feel it makes the game more sophisticated and closer to rewarding real-life football skill. The 'con' side, which I'm a part of, sees it differently. Our main arguments are threefold: 1. **Complexity:** It's an unnecessary layer of complexity in a scoring system that has worked well for a decade. It makes tracking scores less intuitive. 2. **Subjectivity:** How is a 'broken tackle' defined by the stat provider? We've seen controversial calls on much simpler plays. This new stat feels like it could be inconsistent or subject to scoring corrections that change weekly outcomes days later. 3. **Devaluation:** It slightly devalues the core, inarguable stats of the game like total yardage and touchdowns. It adds a variable that feels more random than skillful. Under our charter, any scoring change requires a supermajority of 8 votes. The vote is currently 6-6, and after three separate Zoom calls, nobody has changed their mind. The arguments are getting heated and circular, and it's starting to bleed into our regular group chat. I've been tasked, as the commish, with figuring out a path forward. I'm considering proposing a one-year trial, or making it a pre-season only stat, but I'm not sure if that will satisfy anyone. I need a logical, fair solution before this completely torpedoes a decade-long friendship league.
