ok so my roommate is a good cook, i'll give him that. he's always making huge batches of stuff and then gets annoyed when there are leftovers in the fridge for days. so he came up with this 'system' without really asking anyone. he put a whiteboard on the fridge with a price list. like 'one serving of leftover lasagna: $7,' 'half a sandwich: $4,' 'that one weird casserole thing: $3 (negotiable).' he's not joking. i came home late from the library last night and was starving, so i had some of the pasta he made. this morning i woke up to a venmo request for $6 with the caption 'pasta tax 🍝'. it's so awkward. like on one hand, i get it, groceries are expensive and he doesn't want stuff to go to waste. but on the other hand, we're roommates. isn't sharing leftover food just part of living together? my other roommate thinks it's hilarious and has been paying him just to see how far he'll take it. i just think it's creating a weird vibe in the apartment. i don't want to have to do a cost-benefit analysis every time i'm hungry at midnight.
