My roommate has never seen The Office and I don't know how to function.

This is a serious problem. Every time I make a reference she just gives me this blank stare. I said 'that's what she said' the other day and she just said 'that's a weird thing to say.' I'm losing my mind.
The full story
ok so this sounds dumb but hear me out. my whole personality is basically 70% office quotes. it's how me and my other friends communicate. like if someone does something dumb we all go 'i declare bankruptcy!' or if we're doing something boring we'll say we're in the 'fun-run for rabies'. you know? standard stuff. but my new roommate (21f) has literally never seen a single episode. she grew up in a house with no tv which is a whole other thing. so i'm constantly having to explain jokes which completely ruins them. the other day i was making chili and i said i was excited for everyone to get to know each other in the pot. she just said 'what?' and i had to explain the entire kevin's chili scene and she just kinda nodded and said 'oh.' i tried to get her to watch it with me but she said it 'looks old' and she'd rather watch tiktok. i feel like i'm speaking a different language. is this a dealbreaker? i feel like it might be a dealbreaker. all my other roommates have been normal people who get my references. idk if i can live like this for a whole year. am i being dramatic? probably. but also, it's the office. it's a basic requirement of being a person.

@zanemm — This isn't about the show, it's about a fundamental incompatibility in how you communicate.
