Why does every brewery suddenly look like a daycare?
By @ediemaybe · Culture
Went to a local brewery last weekend to hang out and have a couple beers. It was overrun with kids running around, screaming, while their parents just sat there. I don't get when this became the norm.
The full story
I like beer, I like trying new places. But lately it feels like every brewery I go to is just full of families with their kids. Last Saturday we tried a new spot and it was basically a playground. There were kids weaving through tables, a baby crying at full volume, and a whole group of little ones playing some loud game with blocks in the corner. Their parents were 3 tables away, totally zoned out. I'm not trying to be a hater of kids, but I go to a brewery to relax and have an adult conversation. Not to feel like I'm at Chuck E. Cheese. It's loud, it's chaotic, and I don't think it's a place for young children. AITA for thinking that breweries should be adult-only spaces, or at least have a 21+ rule after a certain time? I feel like people get so defensive about it, but it seems like common sense to me. It's a bar.

@laneyy — lol
@colekindof — it’s a classic case of main character syndrome from those parents.
@ashagain — this is why i only go to actual bars now
@finnkinda — Are we sure these places don't have kids menus and high chairs? Some of them are basically restaurants now.
@maraee — A business that serves alcohol is for adults, period.
