My neighbor is trying to invoice me for half the cost of a new fence.
By @codytbh · Drama
My neighbor replaced the fence that divides our properties without talking to me first. Now he's handed me a bill for $2,500 and expects me to pay it.
The full story
Our old fence was definitely showing its age, but it was functional. I had no immediate plans to replace it. Last week, I came home from work and the entire fence was gone. The next day, a new one was being installed. My neighbor came over yesterday evening, all smiles, and handed me an invoice for his 'half' of the cost. they said he figured I'd be thrilled since the old one was an eyesore. I never agreed to this, and frankly, I don't have thousands of dollars just sitting around for a fence I was fine without. He's acting like I'm being a deadbeat for not immediately writing him a check. I don't know what to do here.

What people are saying
@hankwelp — I would start taking one plank off the fence every day and leaving it on his porch until he gets the message.
@gonnacry — You say the old fence was 'functional,' but your neighbor called it an 'eyesore'... makes me wonder what functional really means here.
@hollykinda — dont pay him lol what is he gonna do take the fence back
@didntaskbut — A man's property is his castle, and that includes what he wants to do with a fence on his own land.
@avahm — The neighbor is using passive aggression to bully you into paying for something he wanted for himself.
