I was the designated driver for a night out using my friend's car because mine was in the shop. Now they're saying I owe them for the gas I used driving everyone around. I already did them a favor!

Okay so my car's out of commission and my friend offered up his for our friend group's night out, on the condition that I'm the DD. Fine, whatever, I don't mind. I drove everyone to the bar, then to get late-night food, and then dropped everyone off at their respective houses. The next day, I get a text in the group chat saying I need to chip in for the gas I used. It's like, ten dollars. They're arguing that I would have used gas in my own car anyway. I'm arguing that I was doing them a service. This feels incredibly petty.
