My coworker is sending me Venmo requests for the office coffee.

She decided the free coffee our company provides is bad, so she started buying 'premium' beans herself. Now she's charging everyone who uses the community coffee pot, and I think it's ridiculous.

Our office has a kitchen with a standard coffee machine, and the company provides basic coffee grounds for free. It's not amazing, but it's free. A few weeks ago, my coworker (30s F) declared it was undrinkable and started bringing in her own fancy, whole-bean, locally roasted coffee. At first, she was just like, "I brought some better coffee if anyone wants any!" But then it escalated. She added a special grinder and a scale. Last week, a little jar appeared next to the coffee pot with a note that said, "Coffee fund! Please contribute what you can for the artisan bean experience!:) " I ignored it and kept drinking the free company coffee when I wanted some. This morning, I got a Venmo request from her for $8.00 with the note "for last week's coffee:)". I haven't used her beans at all! I made a pot using the free stuff yesterday, and I guess she saw me pour a cup and just assumed I was using her supply. Some of my other coworkers are just paying her to avoid the awkwardness. Am I obligated to pay for something I never agreed to, just because she decided to upgrade a free office amenity?
