My friend thinks 'girls night' is a BYOB event (Bring Your Own Boyfriend).

By @laneactually · Friends

She's great, but ever since she got a new boyfriend, he's become an uninvited guest at every single friend gathering. It's changing the whole dynamic and we don't know how to tell her.

The full story

We have a pretty solid friend group and once or twice a month we'll do a dedicated 'girls night'—usually just low-key junk food and complaining about our lives. But for the past few months, my one friend has started bringing her boyfriend to everything. It’s never announced, he just… appears with her. The invite will literally say 'ladies night!!' and she'll show up with him in tow. The vibe immediately changes from us being able to vent freely to everyone being polite and filtered. We love her, but we don't know him like that. So now we're all just sitting there making awkward small talk instead of having our usual catch-up. Should we just start a second group chat without her?
