At what point does being 'thrifty' just become rude?

My friend group always splits the bill at dinner, but one friend meticulously calculates her share down to the cent, excluding tax and tip. The rest of us always end up covering her portion of the shared costs.

It's not about the money, it's the principle. We go out, have a nice time, and when the bill comes, everyone just throws in their card to split it evenly. Except for one friend. She gets out her phone calculator and announces, 'My salad was $14, so that's all I'm putting in.' She never accounts for the 10% tax or the 20% tip the rest of us agree on, so we're always left to make up the difference. It's usually only a few extra dollars each, but it feels so awkward and cheap. It makes the end of every meal feel transactional and a little tense.
