My friend group is seriously divided over bringing dogs to parties.

We're planning some summer hangouts, and some friends just show up with their dogs assuming it's fine. The rest of us think you absolutely need to ask the host first, every time, and it's starting to cause real tension.

Last weekend at a friend's place, someone's unannounced dog jumped on the furniture and ate a burger right off someone's plate. The owner just laughed it off. As we're planning for July 4th, I suggested a 'no dogs unless cleared with the host' rule in the group chat. Now half the group is calling me a dog-hater and the other half is relieved someone finally said it. I'm just trying to make sure everyone, including people who aren't dog people, can be comfortable. Is that an unreasonable position to take?
