My friend group cannot agree on what counts as a real RSVP.

By @mae · Friends

I'm in a group chat where one person insists that 'liking' the message with the plan is the same as saying 'yes'. Everyone else thinks that's insane and you need to actually type words.

The full story

It's become a whole thing. We'll be trying to make a dinner reservation and ask 'who's in?' and this one friend will just heart the message. Then they get mad when we don't include them in the count. Their argument is "I acknowledged the message!" Yeah, and I acknowledge my credit card bill, doesn't mean I've paid it. It’s not that hard to type 'in' or 'yes'. Are we the crazy ones for wanting actual confirmation? It feels so obvious but they're acting like we're gatekeeping brunch.
