My friend called me 'tacky' for Venmo requesting her for $7.

She conveniently 'forgets' to pay her share of group Ubers, always promising to 'get the next one' but never does. I finally sent her a request and now our friend group is taking sides over it.

Okay, so in my friend group, we have one friend who has a chronic case of 'I'll get the next one' syndrome. Ubers, rounds of drinks, splitting an appetizer... she's always juuust a little too slow on the draw and hits us with the 'omg you're the best, I'll get you back next time!' and then, spoiler alert, she never does. It's always small amounts of money so no one ever wants to be the one to actually say anything. Last weekend, four of us shared an a rideshare that came out to literally just $28. She pulled her usual move, and I was just so over it. The next morning, I sent her a Venmo request for her $7 share with the note "for the uber you were totally gonna get next time;)" I thought it was funny and a little sassy. She did not. She declined the request and posted in our main group chat that it was "incredibly tacky and aggressive" to request such a small amount of money and that I was "making things weird over nothing." Now a couple of our other friends are agreeing with her, saying I should've just let it go because it's only seven dollars, but my best friend is texting me separately saying "THANK YOU for finally doing that." I really thought I was just calling out an annoying habit, but now I'm worried I actually broke our friend group over less than ten bucks. Was I wrong?
