My friend brought an uninvited +1 to a potluck and they both ate without bringing anything.

It was a small get-together, and everyone else brought a dish. She's acting like I'm crazy for thinking it was rude, saying "there was plenty of food anyway.".

The full story

I hosted a potluck for a few close friends. The whole point is that everyone contributes. My one friend texts me an hour before saying 'hey, can my bf come?' I didn't even have a chance to say no before she sent 'cool see u soon!' They show up completely empty-handed. No bag of chips, no drinks, nothing. They then proceed to make huge plates of food that everyone else spent time and money on. It's not about the cost, it's the principle. Showing up empty-handed to a potluck is wild, but bringing an extra person to do it too is next-level. Am I being petty or is this just unacceptable?
