My father-in-law keeps eating my food out of the fridge when he visits.
By @remyfr · Family
He and my mother-in-law are staying with us for a couple weeks and he just helps himself to whatever. I'm talking about leftovers I specifically saved for my lunch at work the next day. I said something to my wife and she told me to let it go.
The full story
My wife's parents are staying with us for a bit. Usually it's fine. But her dad has this habit of just eating whatever he finds. No asking, no nothing. The other day I had half a steak from a nice dinner out, I was looking forward to it for lunch all morning. I get to work, open my bag, and it's gone. I text my wife to ask, and she says her dad got hungry last night and ate it. I told her he needs to ask first. That was my lunch. I had to buy something, which isn't the point, but it's annoying. they says he's our guest and I'm being cheap and unwelcoming. She thinks I should just stock the fridge with extra stuff and let him have at it. I think a 65-year-old man should know not to eat food that isn't his without asking, guest or not. It's about respect, not the food itself. It's happened a few times now and I'm about to start writing my name on my stuff like I'm in a college dorm.

What people are saying
@gonnacry — start labeling your food you wont
@liamy — lmao
@reallytho — soft.
@tom — I feel like a simple 'hey, could you save that for me?' would have solved this before it became a thing.
@wesish — Your wife is wrong, that's incredibly disrespectful. It's not about being cheap, it's about common courtesy.
