My boyfriend's family has a 'Championship Belt' for family game night and it's ruining my life.

It started as a joke but now it's this whole thing. His dad won it last Christmas and he literally brings it to every single family dinner and sets it on the table. It's getting so cringe.

The full story

so when i first started dating my boyfriend (3 years ago) i thought his family was so quirky and fun. for holidays they do this big tournament of board games and card games and the winner gets this giant, gold, wrestling-style championship belt. cute, right? wrong. it's become a nightmare. his dad won it last christmas playing Catan. now, almost a year later, he brings The Belt to every single family function. sunday dinner? the belt is on the table, right next to the gravy. someone's birthday? the belt is there. we went to his little cousin's baptism and i swear i saw him pull it out of a bag at the reception after. he doesn't just bring it, he makes it a whole thing. he'll 'casually' polish it, or refer to himself as 'the champ.' my boyfriend and his siblings just roll their eyes and say 'that's just dad,' but it's gotten so old. it feels like it's sucking the air out of the room because everything has to be about him and this stupid belt. last week at dinner i finally said something like 'oh is the champ gracing us with his presence again?' and it got super awkward. my boyfriend said i was being rude later but like... someone has to say it. this has gone on long enough.
