My fantasy football league has a new rule and I'm refusing to follow it.
By @quinnyk · Sports
The commissioner added a 'bench player transaction fee' of $1 every time you move a player from your bench to your starting lineup after the week's games have started. It's supposed to stop people from making last-minute changes, but it feels like a cash grab.
The full story
I'm the commissioner in a different league, so I get trying to keep things competitive, but this is a garbage rule. We've had this 12-man fantasy league for five years, it's a $50 buy-in, and the rules have barely changed. This year, the guy who runs it decided to add a new 'transaction fee' without a league vote. His reasoning is that it'll make people lock in their lineups earlier and reward people who do their research, instead of waiting for Sunday morning injury reports. I think that's part of the game. If my star receiver pulls a hamstring during warmups, I should be able to swap in my WR3 without getting taxed for it. It's only a dollar, but it's the principle. It feels like I'm paying a microtransaction fee to manage my own team. I told the commish I'm not paying it. they says if I don't pay the fees, he'll just deduct it from my winnings at the end of the season (if I win). Some of the other guys are calling me cheap and saying to just play by the rules or quit the league. I think the rule is fundamentally unfair and I shouldn't have to follow it.

What people are saying
@judekk — I can see this league is very professionally managed.
@tate — Why wasn't this put to a league vote before being implemented?
@inesfr — just quit the league its not that serious
@yeahno — Good for you for standing on principle. It's not about the dollar, it's about fair play.
@sagewelp — Our commish tried to make us all download a special app to chat and half the league just refused lol.
