My fantasy football league has a 'last place hosts the draft party' rule.

By @wesmaybe · Sports

I came in last this year. The issue is that my apartment is tiny and I live an hour away from everyone else. Am I obligated to host just because it's the rule?

The full story

Our league has had this rule for years: whoever comes in dead last has to host next year's draft party. That means providing the space, food, and drinks. It's meant to be an incentive to not tank. I finished last, so it's my turn. But my current living situation is way different than when we made the rule. I have a small one-bedroom apartment and it's a solid hour-long drive for the other 11 guys in the league. Forcing everyone to come to me seems like more of a punishment for them than for me, and my place will be uncomfortably packed. I'd rather just pay a 'last place fee' to the pot or buy the food for a party at someone else's place.
