I have been seeing someone on another team for four months, keeping it completely quiet because neither of us wanted the floor gossip. Out of nowhere, our VP announced a department restructuring this morning, and my boyfriend is being promoted to lead the exact sub-team I am on. He knew about the promotion for three weeks while we were planning weekend trips, and he deliberately chose not to disclose our relationship during HR alignment because he worried it would stall his move. If we report it now, HR policy requires one of us to transfer divisions, which completely derails my client accounts. If we stay quiet, we are knowingly violating corporate compliance. He wants to pretend we just started dating next month to protect his title.
