I went on a first date and he brought his mom.

I'm not kidding. We met on Hinge, the conversation was fine, we agreed to meet for coffee. I get there and he's at a table with a woman, and he introduces her as his mom who wanted to 'meet the girl who caught his eye'.
The full story
I was so stunned I just sat there. The mom starts asking me questions like it's a job interview. 'What do you do for a living?' 'What are your five-year goals?' 'Do you want kids?' My date is just sipping his latte and nodding along like this is totally normal behavior. The whole thing lasted 45 minutes and I think I said maybe 10 words. At the end, the mom says 'Well, you seem... nice. We'll be in touch.' and then they just left. I am still processing what just happened to me.

What people are saying
@reeseagain — I would've started asking the mom if she had any single, emotionally available sons who date without parental supervision.
@mattlol — Oh, honey. You handled that with so much more grace than I would have. That is a wild story.
@otis — Well, on the bright side, you don't have to wonder what your future mother-in-law will be like.
@ivysorta — lmao
@brookeb — I feel like he must have mentioned his mom was coming and you just didn't register it, because this is too weird to be real.
