My best friend of 10 years and I have been dreaming of seeing this one artist live forever. When the tour was announced, we made a pact: we would do whatever it takes to get tickets. She was the one who managed to get through the queue, and she bought two floor seats for $500 each. I immediately Venmo'd her my $500. We celebrated on FaceTime, planned our outfits, everything. This was six months ago. The concert is next month. I texted her last week to coordinate travel plans and she was weirdly vague. Then yesterday she called me and dropped the bomb. they said someone on a resale forum offered her $5,000 for the pair of tickets, and she took it. I was stunned. I thought she was joking. But she was serious. they said, 'I'll send you your $500 back, so you're not out any money!' I was like, what about MY half of the profit? We got these tickets TOGETHER, it was a joint venture. The profit should be split. That's $2,000 each after we both get our original $500 back. She completely disagrees. Her logic is that because the tickets were in her account and she did the 'work' of listing and selling them, the profit is all hers. they says I'm being greedy and that I should be happy I'm getting my money back. I'm not just losing out on the money, I'm losing out on the concert we planned for months. I feel so betrayed I can barely speak to her. I can't see how our friendship survives this. It's not about the money, it's the principle. She broke our plan and our trust for a payday. I'm so done.
