My book club is supposed to rotate who picks the monthly book. For the last few months, it's felt like the same two people always get their way. I brought it up, but everyone said I was imagining it. So, I did what I do when I need answers: I made a spreadsheet. I went through our old chat history, logged all 26 books we've read, and who picked them. The data was clear: one person has had her pick chosen 7 times, and another has had hers 6 times. Four other members, including me, have only had our pick chosen once. I presented my findings at our last meeting, complete with a pie chart. I thought people would want to make it fairer, but instead it just got super awkward and a few people said I sucked the fun out of it.
