I thought getting a group Airbnb for the World Cup was a good idea.

We're four days in and my friend's husband has now labeled every single item in the house with a label maker. My friend thinks it's hilarious, everyone else is quietly losing their minds, and I'm just the observer.

The full story

I'm not a huge 'group vacation' person but our friends convinced us to rent a big house for a couple weeks to watch the World Cup games. It started innocently. On day one, my friend's husband brought out a label maker and labeled the three different coffee makers. Fine. Kinda funny. Then he labeled the light switches. 'LIVING ROOM - MAIN', 'LIVING ROOM - ACCENT'. Okay, maybe even helpful. But then I came downstairs yesterday morning and he had been up all night. The label maker must have been smoking. Every drawer in the kitchen is labeled. 'CUTLERY', 'JUNK DRAWER', 'SPATULAS'. He labeled individual eggs in the carton ('EGG 1,' 'EGG 2,' etc). He labeled the couch ('COUCH'), the floor ('FLOOR'), and the remote ('REMOTE - DO NOT LOSE'). He even put a tiny label on the label maker itself that says 'LABEL MAKER'. His wife is finding this absolutely hysterical, crying with laughter and posting it all over her story. The other couple here is trying to pretend it's funny but I can see the politeness cracking. The husband just cornered me to ask if I thought it was 'getting a little much'. I just shrugged because I don't want to get involved. Now my own husband is getting mad at me for not taking a side. He thinks it's passive-aggressive and weird and wants me to back him up, but I'm just here to watch soccer and not be in the middle of a fight over a label maker. It's so dumb, but the tension is getting so thick you could label it ('TENSION'). Am I wrong to just stay out of it?
