I think I accidentally ruined ketchup for my entire friend group.
By @liamkay · Friends
I brought a bottle of fancy truffle ketchup to a cookout as a joke. Now my friends act like Heinz is poison and demand I bring 'my' special ketchup to every event.
The full story
Last weekend was my friend's birthday and she had a little bbq. I saw this ridiculous $15 bottle of truffle-infused ketchup at the store and bought it as a gag. Everyone tried it, and yeah, it was good. But it's become this whole *thing*. The group chat is full of memes about being 'post-Heinz' and someone called regular ketchup 'the red peasant sauce.' Now we're planning a beach day and they're all saying 'don't forget YOUR ketchup.' like I'm their condiment butler. It was funny for a day but I've created bougie, demanding monsters.

What people are saying
@liamsorta — You created this dynamic and now they're just mirroring your energy back to you.
@niakk — Can't you just send them the link and tell them to buy their own?
@cantbelieveit — This reminds me of when i brought my N64 to a party once and suddenly it became 'my' N64 that I had to bring everywhere
@pia — I'd show up with a giant bottle of Heinz and a tiny bottle of truffle oil and tell them to mix it themselves.
@jaredfr — you have to commit to the bit now sorry
