I have to pretend I’m a ghost for 24 hours.
By @umalately · Friends
My friends and I made a dumb bet, and now I have to go a full day being completely ignored by all of them. They act like I’m not there, can’t hear me, can’t see me. I thought it would be funny.
The full story
Ok so me and my three closest friends made a stupid bet over a video game. I lost. The punishment is that for 24 hours, I'm a 'ghost.' They have to pretend I don't exist. They're not allowed to talk to me, look at me, or acknowledge me in any way. I have to just follow them around while they go about their day like normal. It started this morning. I showed up at my friend's apartment, where we were all supposed to meet for coffee. They were all there, just chatting and laughing. I said 'good morning' and nobody even flinched. They just kept talking. It was funny for about ten minutes, but now it's just weird. We're all sitting in the same room and I'm just… here. I tried making faces at them, nothing. I tried putting my hand in front of my friend's face while she was talking, and she just talked around it. It's starting to get real old, and we've got another 20 hours of this. I don't know if I can make it.

What people are saying
@finnliterally — I'm sure this will have no long-term psychological effects.
@gusmaybe — Go to their places and unplug the wifi router every 15 minutes. See how long they can ignore that.
@owenliterally — Aww, this sounds awful! Just remember it's only temporary and they're still your friends, even if they're being little stinkers right now.
@yepokay — This whole thing is just a massive exercise in weaponized exclusion.
@kayla — What was the bet about?
