I have to formally apologize to my friend over a charcuterie board.
By @ivywelp · Friends
We were having a potluck and I jokingly called her fancy cheese and meat platter a 'Lunchable for adults.' Now she is legitimately demanding I say sorry in front of the friend group for 'disrespecting her effort.'.
The full story
Ok this sounds so dumb but I need to know if I'm the one who's losing it. My friend group decided to do a potluck dinner last weekend. I brought a dessert, someone else brought a salad, and this one friend—we'll call her the host—insisted on making a giant charcuterie board as the main appetizer. She spent all week talking about the imported meats and artisanal cheeses she was getting. When I show up, she's arranging everything and it does look nice, but it's also kinda funny how serious she is about it. I walk by and say something like, "Oh wow, a fancy adult Lunchable, my favorite!" A couple people laughed, I laughed, I thought it was just a dumb joke. Nope. The entire vibe shifted. She barely spoke to me for the rest of the night. The next day I get a text from her saying my comment was rude and dismissive of the effort and money she put in. I thought she was still joking, so I sent back a laughing emoji. And THEN. She sends a massive paragraph about how I embarrassed her and that I need to apologize to her in our group chat so everyone who heard the comment knows I'm sorry. I feel like I'm in a prank show. She's serious. Is this real life? Apologize for a Lunchables joke?
