I took my son to a classmate's birthday party and proudly handed over the Lego set the mom had put on the registry. Another mom saw it and said 'Oh, a registry gift. So... practical.'.

It was one of those big parties at a play gym. I was already frazzled from getting my kid there on time. When the mom put the registry link in the evite, I was thrilled! No guessing, no wandering around the store. I clicked the link, bought the Lego set the kid wanted, and thought I was parent of the year. But that comment from the other mom just made me feel so awkward. Am I supposed to go rogue on the gift list? I thought I was making the parents' lives easier!
