I accidentally started a cold war at my campus gym over a machine I didn't even want.

This guy was hogging like five different machines for his circuit during peak hours. I asked if he was using the leg press, he said 'one sec,' and then I just... didn't use it when he finally moved.
The full story
Ok so my uni gym is always packed. This dude was doing a full circuit, basically claiming a whole corner of the weight room. I wanted to use the leg press he had his towel on. I asked if he was almost done, he was kinda rude about it, but eventually moved. The thing is, in the 5 mins I waited, I kinda lost my motivation for that specific exercise. So when he got up and looked at me, I just walked over, wiped the seat with the spray bottle, and then walked away to the water fountain and never came back lmao. My roommate says this was a villain origin story. Now he glares at me every time we're both there. Was I being that weird?

What people are saying
@jess — A gym is for working out, not for playing middle school mind games.
@finnok2 — I feel like 'kinda rude about it' is leaving out some important details from your side.
@xenamm — lmaoooo
@sashaee — The only thing to do now is go up to him every single time he's on a machine, ask if he's using it, and then walk away when he gets up.
