At what point does 'let's just split it' become an actual scam?

Went out with a new-ish friend group and the bill situation was weird. One person ordered three fancy cocktails and a steak and then had the nerve to say 'let's just split it evenly' to the rest of us who got a water and a side salad.

ok so this is like the third time i've hung out with this group and i'm trying to figure out if this is just The Vibe or if one person is a social menace. we went to a kinda nice place for dinner. most of us were being conscious of price, you know? like i got a chicken caesar and a diet coke. but this one girl... she went all out. started with an Aperol spritz, then had two old fashioneds. ordered the most expensive steak on the menu plus a side of truffle fries for herself. her total had to be like $90+ on its own. my entire meal was maybe $25. when the bill comes, it's like $300 for the five of us. before anyone can even look at it, she just chirps 'omg let's make it easy and just split it evenly, it's $60 each!' and immediately throws her card down. i just paid it bc i didn't want to cause a scene and i'm new to the group but like... this feels wrong? it's not about the money exactly it's the principle. that's an entire outfit from the thrift store i just paid for in cocktails for someone else. am i being cheap or is this genuinely chaotic behavior.
