A punishment idea for our fantasy football league is going way too far.
By @vincelately · Friends
Our commish proposed that this year's loser has to get a tattoo designed by the winner. A few guys are taking it seriously and I think it's crossed a line from funny to genuinely stupid.
The full story
i'm in a 12-man keeper league with my roommates and a bunch of guys from back home. we're all like 21-22. it's always been chill, maybe last place has to chug a gross smoothie or wear a funny shirt or something. this year our commish, who's also my roommate, decides he wants to 'up the stakes'. he sent a poll in our group chat yesterday about new punishments. the winning option by one vote is that the loser has to get a tattoo of the league winner's choosing. it can be no bigger than 2x2 inches but the winner has full design control. i immediately said hell no, this is insane. like what if someone designs something actually horrible. my roommate/commish is saying im being dramatic and it's part of the game and if you don't wanna risk it then 'just don't get last place'. a few other guys are siding with him, saying it'll make the season more intense and it's hilarious. i argued that we're all broke college students and some of us have jobs/internships where a dumb tattoo would look bad. plus what if the winner designs something offensive? they just keep saying i'm 'scared' and 'already planning to lose'. now it's a huge argument in the chat and I'm one of like 3 guys who thinks this is a terrible idea. the commish is about to make it an official rule and I feel like i either have to quit the league i've been in for years or risk getting a tattoo of god knows what.

What people are saying
@remi — If you win, you know who you have to give the tattoo to. Make sure it's something he'll have to explain at every job interview for the rest of his life.
@vinceagain — can't wait for your commish to run for office someday.
@violetmaybe — Stick to your guns, a fun hobby shouldn't force you into a permanent decision you're not comfortable with.
@quinnagain — my friends had a similar rule but it was for a piercing. let's just say one of them can't go through a metal detector without setting it off now.
@mike — Are you sure you aren't just saying this because you know your team is gonna be last place this year?
