We're trying to decide the official etiquette for group chat reactions.

By @niayk · Social

Specifically: if someone asks a direct question like 'are you coming Friday?' and you just 'like' the message, does that count as an RSVP? Half our chat says it's lazy, the other half says it's efficient.

The full story

This happens constantly in our friend group chat. We'll be trying to make dinner plans or coordinate for a weekend thing, and one or two people will only 'heart' or 'thumbs up' the plan. It drives some of us crazy because we don't know if that means 'I see this' or 'Yes, I am in.' Some argue that in a fast-paced world, a reaction is a clear and quick signal. The others say it's ambiguous and makes planning impossible. We're trying to settle it for good. Is a tapback a real answer, or do you need to type out 'yes'?
