The commissioner of my fantasy football league is trying to ban trades with a new guy because his team is 'too good'.

So a new guy joins our league of 12 people (we've all known each other for years) and he's CRUSHING it. He's 5-0 and his team is stacked. Now the commish is vetoing his trades and wants to pass a new rule to block him from making his team even better.

The full story

i'm in a pretty serious 12-man fantasy league with a $200 buy-in. most of us have been in it for a decade. this year, one guy dropped out and we let my coworker's cousin join. let's call him 'the new guy.' the new guy is, to put it lightly, an absolute fantasy football god. he drafted an insane team, he works the waiver wire perfectly, and he's currently undefeated. last week, i tried to make a trade with him. it was totally fair, maybe even slightly better for me on paper, but my team is trash and i need to shake things up. our league commish, who is also my friend and whose team is like 1-4, immediately vetoed it. he said it was 'collusion' and that i was 'handing the championship' to the new guy. i argued with him, and then he dropped this bombshell: he's proposing a 'new guy' rule. essentially, if a team is undefeated past week 5, they can't make any trades with teams that have a losing record. he says it's to 'preserve competitive balance.' a few of the other losing teams are actually backing him up. i think this is completely absurd. the whole point of fantasy is to manage your team to a win. this guy is just better than us. punishing him for being good feels salty and pathetic. it's not his fault the rest of us drafted busts. now half the league chat is in a civil war over it. am i crazy for thinking this is a massive overstep?
